Mucking around with the focus this afternoon with my girlfriend Jess just walking along the shore line, the image came out pretty sweet as I havent tried it in a long time, ever since the film days when I would be stoked to get an image like this.
This is the shot we ended up using for the Summer splash page on the QCD site. It was a mission to shoot, I had the camera setup on a tripod down the beach and I would set up the shot put on the self timer and run up and get into position, after a few shots I was bloody buggered.
A big hungry African Lion just chilling in the shade waiting for some lunch! This guy was big and scary. Was lucky to shoot off a few frames before the big guy had had enough. Africa 07.
A little rock carving in the gardens at the place I stay at in Bali, these things are all over the place and look pretty sick when they are all old and weathered.
It is a great day down at the beach today, spewing its a Monday. I went down to shot some photos for the up and coming QCD splash page we are working on, here is a test shot, its going to end up looking sick!
My girlfriends family cat Spike, just chilling in the front yard this morning, he is not to happy with the new resident who has moved in, being Porky the dog. The two dont see eye to eye at the moment so we will wait and see what happens.
The youngest of the 3 McArthur brothers says he is better looking then Nick and taller then Daniel. We had a few beers together the other week at my mates house down in Sydney. Big smile for the camera!
Just got back from lunch at our local Thai spot, we have been there 3 days in a row! Can't help it its so good. We rock up and the owner is waiting for us, he hooks us up a sweet meal and a coke for $9.50. JG and Pete tucking into a chili chicken basil and a red curry.
This shot was taken a few weeks ago when I was down at my dads place, its a shot of the harbor twenty minutes from his house. I didn't have my tripod so its not pin sharp, but came out pretty sweet.
Its another rainy day at work today, you just have to look outside and think what a crap day. But then you think its not Friday and the weekend weather is going to be much better. Looking out there today I am thinking a Thai lunch and a bit of Dexter on DVD this arvo.
I would love to get one of these puppy's, Range Rover, so sick. Nice and stylish on the street and an off road machine to go anywhere. These things are well over a 100 grand and I am pretty much just dreaming, oh well dream away.
Sitting at home on a Monday night, not much going on when Adam comes into the kitchen with news there is a large spider in the lounge room. Dam! I'm excited and freaking at the same time. Pasco catches the thing with a jar, crazy! I took a couple of shots with my fisheye before we let it go.I hope it stays outside.
Here is a pic of my little staff, she was being a little cheeky bugger the other arvo, she was hiding behind the vines and then sticking her head out and barking why, just because she can. For an old girl she has got a hell of a bark.
Last night I was in the city for a mate of mines show, it was pretty sick, he's detail in these paintings and masks is amazing. He had a good turn out for the opening night and sold a lot of the collection, it was cool to hang in the city with a few of the boys I haven't seen in a long time.
While on our way to the show last night we called in to my good mates Shaun's house for a beer. He lives at the Bra just out of the city in a sick little unit overlooking the beach (ocean) this is the view from his window, very nice indeed.
Off to the city tonight to see Trent Whitehead's show, it should be pretty sick. It's at China Heights in Darlinghurst from 6pm till 9pm, FREE beer and wine so good times ahead! Happy Friday (night) YEW!
Watched a great doco last night that I had know idea was out there. It based on a movie about a movie that was never made, sounds weird! However its so sick a budget of 35million a great director (Terry Gilliam who has made 12 monkeys and fear and loathing in Vegas) and a great cast including Johnny Deep, nothing from the get go goes smooth and production is shut down after 6 days. The actual movie they are trying to make is The man who killed Don Quixote, if you get your hands on it it's a must watch.
A really good friend of mine called into work yesterday to catch up and fill me in on a project he has been working on the past few months. You see Nick is a guy who is always keeping busy and shooting heaps of photos, he loves tits and ass but this project has neither I cant wait to see the end result. check out Nick's site at greygreen.com.au to see some of his older work.
I was in Africa a couple of years ago now and shot so many photos, I was just going through some the other day and found this one. Late afternoon light and a massive African Elephant making his way. I just love how you cant see it's face but you still get some feeling from it. Being there in the wild is such an experience.
Went to see the long awaited Mike Stewart film FIRE last night, and it was awesome so good the water shots blew me away, stuff from back in the 80's up until the present. The Q & A's after the film was sick also Mike is such a humble man, and it is an honour to know such a person. Mike on the cover of a Riptide annual back in 93 (style is amazing)
Brad is loving his overseas travels, check out this keg he is pulling into, I think he is also going to get a run in the European mag 360. He is travelling with a photog who took this shot so look out for many more to come.
I went to the movies over the weekend to watch the new Ridley Scott film Body of Lies and I must say it was worth the $16.50 that it cost for the ticket, DiCaprio was so good in this film. I think this film is better then The Kingdom and also better than Rendition.
Was just working away today getting some boards done when the best bodyboarder of all times rocks up at the factory! So stoked ! He rocked up with Ian Stewart and one of my favourite old school guys of all time Hauoli Reeves! They are both super cool and are in town for Mike's long awaited film FIRE. Im hanging to see the Film and stoked that Pete was able to get a nice family photo for the album (I mean blog)
Max has a pretty sick website-blog that he has just loaded onto th world wide web! Check it out its got all kinds of stuff on there. I snapped this shot in between takes at an NMD shoot a while back.
Was working on some xmas stuff (I know already) yesterday, shooting some photos for an upcoming ad. Here is one of JG with a really creepy look on his face. Just took a few test shots to see how the hat sits etc, the ad is looking pretty sweet.
First time in a long time since I sat down and watch this movie, its so good! Back in 99 myself and pretty much everyone else got blown away at the effects this movie had in it. Its up there as one of my all time favourites.
Trent is a friend of mine who is making a name for himself big time on the art scene, he was part of the VSAP this year and is doing a show in Sydney soon, here is a run down on the show.
Cornucopia’, a solo art show by Sydney artist Trent Whitehead features a highly entertaining “broke down vaudeville” installation. The show title refers to the ever-giving ‘horn of plenty’. Based around the symbolic imagery of ‘magical horns’, the exhibition is undeniably generous in humor and beauty.
That's a funny title to go with this shot, well it is relevant. Naw from Riptide called in for a meeting today and rocked up in his new A4 hire car, these things are sick! He took us out for lunch so we had to take him to our favourite Thai place, Thai was a good choice.
Oh Yeh! One of the best shows on the planet has just been called up for a sixth season! YEW! stoked, only have seen the first 4 episodes of season 5 and its so sick.
Just got word that James is back from his stint overseas, he scored in Bali but just got a little skunked in the Philippines. He will be emailing some shots of his trip soon so keep your peepers pealed.
Well last night saw the biggest win in grand final history go down. We had all hoped for a close game but Manly smashed the Storm. We had a few drinks around a Matt and Lauren's house and after the game rolled down the hill to the Country Club, good times.
Oh Crap! just chilling at home on a rainy long weekend, at least I have HELLO (lucky squirrel club) in the dvd player and WALL E watching my back. Nearly time for a beer as the League grand final is on this arvo and no matter what the weather outside is like its always a good day for a beer.
Got to love Fridays! But not when its stinking hot and your stuck in traffic. I'm down the south coast again for the night, and Pete is cooling down with one of his favourites... a nice cold Coopers. But it wont be long till I get some liquid gold into me.
While in Bali a couple of months ago I went on and Eco bike tour, Its a must if you go as you will see so many things they don't show you in the holiday guides. Here is a pick of some hand roasted coffee beans, I'm not a big coffee fan but this was pretty sick, if you are a coffee nut then you would have been in caffeine heaven.
About 30 min drive from my house are some water falls and when the water is running they can be crazy! I went up there this arvo to take a couple of shots as it hadn't rain in a while and I thought there would be just enough water for some cool slow shutter picks.
She is one of my favourite photographers, watched an amazing documentary on her the other week. (A life in Pictures) if you get a chance to see it its a must, she has taken some of the most famous shots ever from the music and fashion worlds. Just ordered her book" A life in Pictures" from Amazon should be here in a couple of weeks, cant wait!
Pluck has been sporting the hell mo-hawk lately and seems to be addicted to Facebook. Had a few beers with him the other night and shot this photo of him pre dance floor largo, he hit the town I hit the sack.
